Summit Design Hosts Second Annual Electronic System Level Technology Symposium at Design Automation Conference

Design Automation Conference 2004

Panelists From Gartner, Synopsys, Mentor, ARM, Verisity And Summit Discuss New Design And Verification Methods That Enable Utilization Of Emerging Sub-Micron And Soc Technologies

BURLINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 31, 2004--Summit Design, Inc., the world leader in electronic system-level (ESL) design solutions and methodologies, today announced that for the second consecutive year it will host a technology symposium at the Design Automation Conference in San Diego. The symposium, entitled, "ESL: Fueling the Future of Sub-Micron Silicon, A Language and Methodology Roadmap", will take place on Tuesday, June 8th, from 12:00 to 2:00pm in room 33ABC at the San Diego Convention Center.

ESL focuses on a higher-level view for integrated HW/SW systems, through the abstraction of functional behavior and data transactions. The ability to create and maintain such high-level description of systems will allow Semiconductors and IP companies to better control and achieve their strategic goals through a more predictive, cost-effective and scalable design flow that is supported by a coherent methodology. The panelists will discuss the real challenges for future systems-on-a-chip (SoC) and embedded systems, and the role of ESL as an enabler for 90 nanometer process technologies. The panel will highlight the technological challenges, as well as the roadmap set by leading EDA companies to address those challenges through new languages (such as SystemVerilog and SystemC) and verification concepts (such as assertion and architecture analysis).

"The increasing complexity of today's electronic systems is pushing design, integration, verification, and performance issues to a breaking point," said Rami Rachamim, director of marketing for Summit Design. "ESL offers new design and verification methods that are being adopted in the challenging search for a design flow that can support future sub-micron technologies."

Moderated by Peggy Aycinena, EDA Journalist, the symposium will feature presentations from Gary Smith, Director and Chief Analyst with Gartner-Dataquest; Serge Leef, General Manager of SOC Verification with Mentor Graphics; Rindert Schutten, Director of Marketing in the System Level Solutions Verification Group at Synopsys; Tim Holden, Strategic Worldwide EDA Vendor Relations Manager with ARM Limited; Steve Glaser, Vice President of Corporate Marketing and Business Development with Verisity Design; and Summit's own CEO & President, Guy Moshe.
